Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kylah Ray and Lily Wellmon Lead Pinnacle Classical Academy to Victory

Pinnacle Classical Academy's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Challenger Firebirds with a sharp 55-32 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 23 points or more this season.

Pinnacle Classical Academy was led to victory by Lily Wellmon and Kylah Ray. Wellmon posted nine points in addition to six assists and six rebounds, while Ray put up nine points. That's the most assists Wellmon has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Nylah Littlejohn, who had six points and four steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Pinnacle Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Pinnacle Classical Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Challenger, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Lake Lure Classical Academy the next time they take the court. Challenger will head out to face Lake Lure Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Pinnacle Classical Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
