Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Big Bear

Big Bear put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Indian Springs COYOTES as they made off with a 14-2 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bears also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Layla Navarette made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abigail Hendricks, who went 2-for-5 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Royce, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Big Bear kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Big Bear's record now sits at 3-0. As for Indian Springs, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Big Bear will head out to face off against Rubidoux at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Indian Springs, they will venture away from home to challenge San Gorgonio at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
