Basketball Recap: Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy Takes a Loss

Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy lost against Big Bear back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy had to suffer through a 87-53 loss at the hands of the Big Bear Bears. While losing is never fun, Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1352nd, while Big Bear is ranked 584th).

Brennen Berge continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Big Bear, almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Berge is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games he's played. Kyle Rice was another key player, going 6 for 13 on his way to 13 points and seven steals.

Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Big Bear, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-4.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Riverside Prep the next time they take the court. Big Bear will head out to face Riverside Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
