Baseball Recap: Horizon Honors Finds Home Field Redemption Against Tempe Prep

There's no place like home for Horizon Honors, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They never let the Tempe Prep Knights get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Monday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Aidan Andrews made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Chase Wilson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max Miller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Horizon Honors always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tempe Prep only posted an OBP of .235.

Horizon Honors pushed their record up to 9-4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tempe Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Horizon Honors will challenge Veritas Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tempe Prep, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Maryvale Prep at 4:00 p.m.
