Baseball Game Preview: Amador Valley Dons vs. Foothill Falcons

For the second straight game, Amador Valley will face off against Foothill. The Dons will take on the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Amador Valley has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Foothill will arrive with three straight victories.

Amador Valley is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since April 2nd on Wednesday. They came up short against Foothill, falling 10-3.

For Foothill's part, Jack Fowler made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Fowler was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Foothill let Austin Rost and Tanner Tarpley run wild. Rost went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Tarpley got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Rost a new career-high. George Schmitt was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI and one double.

Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Foothill's record is now 18-5. As for Amador Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Amador Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits.
