Preview: Western Indians vs. South Webster Jeeps
After three games on the road, Western is heading back home. They will take on the South Webster Jeeps at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Western narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Whiteoak 72-70. Given Western's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Whiteoak is ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Western relied on the efforts of Kam Janes, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds, and Drew Haggy, who scored 31 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Janes has scored at least 25% of Western's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cutter Clay, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, South Webster had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Green 77-42 on the road.
Western's victory bumped their season record to 3-0 while Whiteoak's defeat dropped theirs to 1-2.
