Basketball Recap: Monte Vista Comes Up Short

Monte Vista was the 76-71 winner over Benicia when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Monte Vista Mustangs fell to the Benicia Panthers 51-47. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Panthers are ranked 514th).

Monte Vista's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Benicia, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Monte Vista is taking a road trip to take on Pittsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Benicia, they and Fairfield will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Fairfield will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Benicia surely won't give up without a fight.
