            Softball Recap: Walnut Grove Wildcats vs. Anna Coyotes        
        
		
        
        
            Walnut Grove had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They put the hurt on the Anna Coyotes with a sharp  16-1 win. 16 seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the  team scooped up a  victory with the same number of  runs in their previous game.
 Lyndsey Hooker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  2.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent  recently: she hasn't  given up  more than one  hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 3-for-4 with four  RBI, two  runs,  and two  doubles.
 In other batting news,  Ella Berlage was  incredible,  firing off two  home runs, three  runs,  and four  RBI while going 3-for-3.  Kailee James was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with one  home run and four  RBI.
 Walnut Grove  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .643. The last time their  OBP was this high was  back in April of 2024.

Walnut Grove pushed their record up to 15-5 with the  win, which was their 16th straight  at home dating back to last season. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Anna, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5-1 record  this season.
 A feisty cat fight will be fought as Walnut Grove Wildcats  challenge  Melissa Cardinals at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Melissa will roll in looking for their  20th straight  win, something Walnut Grove surely won't give up without a fight. As for Anna, they will take on Denison at 6:45  p.m.  on Tuesday.
