Basketball Recap: De'yaire Adams Key Part of a Team Effort in Scots Win

Walnut Ridge won the last time they faced Eastmoor Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Walnut Ridge Scots took down the Eastmoor Academy Warriors 66-52. Given the Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Warriors are ranked 501st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Walnut Ridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was De'Yaire Adams, who went 5 for 9 en route to 12 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Adams a new career-high in steals. Marquis Lucas was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Eastmoor Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JD Broomfield, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Dekar Moultry, who earned seven points in addition to 12 rebounds and four blocks.

Walnut Ridge's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Eastmoor Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-9.

Walnut Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 63-58 victory against South on the 25th. As for Eastmoor Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-32 loss against Africentric Early College on the 24th.
