Baseball Recap: Oregon Comes Up Short

Oregon was the 3-1 winner over Monona Grove when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers fell just short of the Silver Eagles by a score of 6-5 on Thursday.

Carson Gehrke was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Ryan Dins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Oregon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Monona Grove, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Oregon will venture away from home to challenge Janesville Parker at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.83 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Monona Grove, they will be playing at home against Kimberly at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Papermakers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Silver Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
