Soccer Game Preview: Riverbend vs. Mountain View

The Riverbend Bears will challenge the Mountain View Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Riverbend sitting on four straight wins and Mountain View on five.

While Riverbend's victory against King George wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears' defense stepped up to hand the Foxes a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Riverbend's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 54th, while King George are ranked 203rd).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mountain View duked it out with Massaponax on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Panthers 4-0. Considering Mountain View have won four games by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Riverbend's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six contests. As for Mountain View, their record now sits at 7-2.

Riverbend beat Mountain View 3-1 in their previous matchup on April 4th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
