Softball Recap: Marana Comes Up Short

Marana had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 15-13 to make it four. They fell just short of the Canyon del Oro Dorados by a score of 7-6. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dorados from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Bella Corona made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Sayre, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Canyon del Oro, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 28-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

On Canyon del Oro's side, Amelia Streuber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on two hits and racked up ten Ks. Streuber has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Taya Kelly was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 1st. Another player making a difference was Molly Herman, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Marana has already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Cesar Chavez on the 28th. As for Canyon del Oro, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 win against Buckeye on the 3rd.
