Basketball Recap: Christopher Melendez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Valley over Albuquerque

Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 56-49 to the Albuquerque Bulldogs. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by exactly seven points.

Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Melendez, who posted eight points. The dominant performance gave Melendez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luciano Mondragon, who put up 11 points.

Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Albuquerque, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley will venture away from home to challenge Albuquerque Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season. As for Albuquerque, they will head out to square off against Atrisco Heritage Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Albuquerque is facing Atrisco Heritage Academy at the right time seeing as Atrisco Heritage Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
