Basketball Recap: Buena Vista Comes Up Short

Buena Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 58-32 to the Lamar Thunder. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-39 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Buena Vista saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Joe Bearss posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Noah Bearss, who put up eight points.

Lamar was led to victory by Gabrian Jacobs and Jacob Dunning. Jacobs dropped a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Dunning went 7-for-12 en route to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Jacobs a new career-high in boards. Braxen Shelton was another key player, putting up nine points.

Buena Vista's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Lamar, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-6 record.

Buena Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-33 defeat against Manitou Springs on the 1st. As for Lamar, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-65 loss against Salida on the 1st.
