Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Alex Nichols and Riley Michels Lead Foundation Academy to Victory

Foundation Academy lost to Bishop Moore back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Foundation Academy Lions secured a 58-52 W over the Bishop Moore Hornets. Given the Lions 's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Hornets are ranked 426th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Foundation Academy to victory were Riley Michels and Alex Nichols. Michels went 8 for 18 on his way to 21 points along with eight boards and three blocks, while Nichols went 6 of 12 en route to 18 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Nichols has been hot, having posted 17 or more points the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nate Waldon, who posted seven points and ten rebounds.

Mark Dadlani and Brandon Rivera certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Dadlani scored 14 points, while Rivera had 14 points. Those 14 points gave Rivera a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Gonzalez, who put up seven points.

The win made it two in a row for Foundation Academy and bumps their season record up to 12-6. As for Bishop Moore, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Foundation Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-51 victory against Geneva on the 21st. As for Bishop Moore, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-53 win against Trinity Prep on the 21st.
