Baseball Recap: Nichols Comes Up Short

Nichols entered their match against Canisius on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Vikings took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 6-1 to the Crusaders when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Max Langer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Reed Coene was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ross Yoshida, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Nichols' defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Canisius, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

While Nichols had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
