Soccer Game Preview: Animo South Los Angeles vs. New West Charter

The Animo South Los Angeles Panthers will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the New West Charter Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Animo South Los Angeles' last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Back in December of 2024, Animo South Los Angeles and George Washington Prep finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw. That draw made it three straight for the Panthers.

Their goal came courtesy of Wilber V, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, New West Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 9-1 to Lakewood. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 685th, while the Lancers are ranked 268th).

With that draw, Animo South Los Angeles' record moves to 1-3-3. As for New West Charter, they now have a losing record at 2-3-1.

Animo South Los Angeles skirted past New West Charter 1-0 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Does Animo South Los Angeles have another victory up their sleeve, or will New West Charter turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
