Okeechobee is a perfect 7-0 against Moore Haven since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Brahmans will challenge the Terriers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Okeechobee was able to grind out a solid win over Jensen Beach, taking the game 4-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Brahmans.
Alyssa Madrigal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.
At the plate, Okeechobee's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tehya Nunez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Moore Haven never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Gateway last Thursday. They blew past the Eagles 18-2. The Terriers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Brooklyn Sergent was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March.
In other batting news, Moore Haven let Charisma Micco and Lydia Lee run wild. Micco went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Lee scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Lee a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Preslynn Baker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Moore Haven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Okeechobee's record now sits at 5-10. As for Moore Haven, their record is now 10-5.
Okeechobee took their win against Moore Haven when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Brahmans repeat their success, or do the Terriers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
