Softball Recap: Sullivan County Has No Trouble Against Sugar Valley Rural

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wellsboro, Sullivan County was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Sugar Valley Rural Phoenix 26-2. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won four matches by 16 runs or more so far this season.

Kayla Fowler was a standout: she scored four runs and stole five bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Mariah Hallabuk was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

Sullivan County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Sullivan County's record is now 4-2. As for Sugar Valley Rural, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sullivan County will challenge Muncy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Sugar Valley Rural, they will face off against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Phoenix's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
