Basketball Recap: Catoosa Takes a Loss

Catoosa's tournament run continued when they took on Pocola on Wednesday. The Catoosa Indians were outmatched by the Pocola Indians and fell 71-28. While losing is never fun, Catoosa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Pocola is ranked 46th).

Catoosa lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jacquelyn Cornwell, who posted eight points. Cornwell has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Bowen, who put up nine points and five rebounds.

Catoosa has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Pocola, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Catoosa won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Okay at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Pocola, they will take on Stigler at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
