Volleyball Recap: St. Mary's Episcopal Falls to Northpoint Christian in First Game of Season

St. Mary's Episcopal kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 3-0 to the Northpoint Christian Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Turkeys of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

While St. Mary's Episcopal was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Northpoint Christian's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-18, 25-21.

St. Mary's Episcopal's offense was headlined by Kamryn Keith and Ejeme Ataga, who picked up five kills apiece. They were helped by Martha Mitchell and Eleanor Chandler, who contributed six assists each. Finally, Keith was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Northpoint Christian found their leader in sophomore Sarah Johnson, who had five digs and four aces. Johnson has been hot for a while, having also posted 14 or more assists the last 20 times she's played.

St. Mary's Episcopal wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 win against St. Agnes Academy on the 19th. As for Northpoint Christian, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Pleasant View on the 19th.
