Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Township Falcons vs. Metuchen Bulldogs

The Monroe Township Falcons will face off against the Metuchen Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Monroe Township fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Sayreville on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bombers by a score of 10-9.

Braeden Hoiberg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Marcus, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Metuchen didn't have quite enough to beat Edison on Tuesday and fell 4-3. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monroe Township dropped their record down to 7-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Metuchen, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.

Everything went Monroe Township's way against Metuchen in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Monroe Township made off with a 10-1 victory. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
