South East hasn't had much luck against Legacy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as South East Jaguars face off against Legacy Tigers at 3:00 p.m.
South East fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against South Gate on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-6 to the Rams. The Jaguars' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
Iliana Dominguez put in work while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Dominguez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Alyssa Ramirez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Alexa Donis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Legacy hadn't done well against Mira Costa recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Legacy came out on top against Mira Costa by a score of 5-1.
Savannah Medina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isabella Medina, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Priscilla Medina, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Legacy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for South East, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
South East suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to Legacy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can South East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
