Basketball Recap: Montverde Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Ridge View

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montverde Academy). They took down the Ridge View Blazers 82-65 on Saturday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 138th in Florida, while the Blazers are ranked tenth in South Carolina).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Montverde Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dhani Miller, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Thanks to that strong game, Miller now owns an excellent 45.6% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Jayden Hodge, who shot 75% from the field en route to 17 points and eight rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Montverde Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points over those games. As for Ridge View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-2.

Montverde Academy and Gillion Academy National will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least 55 points in their last 11 contests. Ridge View will take on Chambers in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
