Soccer Game Preview: DeMatha vs. Bishop O'Connell

The DeMatha Stags are taking a road trip to face off against the Bishop O'Connell Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DeMatha is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

DeMatha's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Archbishop Carroll 6-0. The victory was all the more spectacular given DeMatha's disadvantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 71st in Maryland, while Archbishop Carroll are ranked 15th in District of Columbia).

Meanwhile, after soaring to six goals the game before, Bishop O'Connell was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Bishop McNamara by a score of 2-1. That makes it the first time this season Bishop O'Connell have let down their home crowd.

Bishop O'Connell's loss dropped their record down to 7-4-2. As for DeMatha, the win got them back to even at 4-4-2.

DeMatha was able to grind out a solid victory over Bishop O'Connell in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 2-0. Will the Stags repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
