Basketball Game Preview: Brooks County Trojans vs. Turner County Titans

The Brooks County Trojans and the Turner County Titans will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Brooks County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.

Brooks County took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They skirted past Atkinson County 45-43.

Brooks County's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Camauri Brinson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals, and Demarrion Washington, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points and six boards. Those 16 points gave Washington a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarion Crumity, who posted four points.

Brooks County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 14 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Turner County didn't have too much trouble with Irwin County on Friday as they won 62-48. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Indians are ranked 486th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Turner County's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4. As for Brooks County, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.

Brooks County ended up a good deal behind Turner County when the teams last played back in January of 2024, losing 66-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Turner County's Cedric Hillmon, who earned 21 points.
