Basketball Game Preview: Monona Grove Silver Eagles vs. Oregon Panthers

The Monona Grove Silver Eagles will head out to take on the Oregon Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Oregon will be up against a hot Monona Grove squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Monona Grove took down Sun Prairie East 56-38 on Friday. Given the Silver Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Cardinals are ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Prairie du Chien typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Oregon proved too difficult a challenge. They strolled past the Blackhawks with points to spare, taking the game 65-50.

Monona Grove has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Oregon, their record is now 13-4.

Monona Grove came up short against Oregon in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 46-40. Can Monona Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
