Basketball Recap: Norris Takes Down Ranked Scottsbluff

Norris faced Scottsbluff in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Titans came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 59-48. The Titans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bearcats, too.

Norris' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Garner Jr., who went 7-for-12 en route to 17 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Holen, who shot 58% from the field on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Scottsbluff lost, don't look at Nate Kelley. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-12 to rack up 17 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Kelley is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last nine games he's played. Rylee Meininger was another key player, shooting 42% from the field en route to 12 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Norris and bumps their season record up to 20-2. As for Scottsbluff, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-4.

Coming up, Norris will take on Lincoln Northwest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Scottsbluff, they will head out on the road to square off against Gering at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
