Football Game Preview: Manvel Mavericks vs. South Houston Trojans

The Manvel Mavericks will take on the South Houston Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Manvel is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Pearland on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Mavericks took a blow against the Oilers, falling 66-14. The contest marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Manvel saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ju'Von Smith forced one fumble and made ten total tackles.

Meanwhile, South Houston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 38-6 loss at the hands of Alvin.

South Houston's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Manvel, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Manvel against South Houston in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-10 win. Do the Mavericks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
