Basketball Recap: Kenney Edwards' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Woodville-Tompkins over Toombs County

Woodville-Tompkins was the 57-49 winner over Toombs County when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Toombs County Bulldogs on Wednesday.

Woodville-Tompkins' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenney Edwards, who posted five points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Edwards a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Edwards, who scored 12 points and six rebounds.

Arianna Hill had a dynamite game for Toombs County, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 22 boards. With that strong performance, Hill is now averaging an impressive 8.5 rebounds per game. Shania Brown also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Woodville-Tompkins' defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Toombs County, they moved to 3-13 with that victory, which also ended their ten-game losing streak.

Woodville-Tompkins has already played their next matchup, a 61-22 loss against Ware County on the 31st. As for Toombs County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-54 win against Swainsboro on the 31st.
