Softball Recap: The Villages Charter Takes Down Santa Fe in a Playoff Battle

The Villages Charter extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Santa Fe. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Raiders. This was a revenge game for the Buffalo: when they faced off against the Raiders back in March, they had to take a 6-4 defeat.

Emily Thompson was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexy Sanchez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The Villages Charter's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Santa Fe, their loss dropped their record down to 19-4.

Coming up, The Villages Charter will challenge Crystal River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Buffalo's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Santa Fe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
