Basketball Recap: Oaks Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home

Oaks Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 55-41 to the North Idaho Christian Royals. Oaks Academy just can't catch a break and has now endured five defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Chelsey Cate continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Idaho Christian, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 14 boards. That makes it six consecutive games in which Cate has scored at least a third of North Idaho Christian's points. Belle Jordan was another key player, putting up 19 points and five steals.

The win (which was North Idaho Christian's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oaks Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North Idaho Christian at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. As for North Idaho Christian, they will challenge Stillwater Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Idaho Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Stillwater Christian likes a good challenge.
