Recap: Kearns Cougars vs. Roy Royals

Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Kearns Cougars proved on Wednesday. They strolled past Roy with points to spare, taking the game 55-40. The win made it back-to-back wins for Kearns.

Kearns' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Iman Finau, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Finau's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Mina Kinikini was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.

Despite the loss, Roy still got an impressive performance from Ellen Speredon, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Speredon scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jerzee Hart, who scored five points along with nine blocks.

Kearns now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Roy, they bumped their record down to 2-4 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Kearns will square off against American Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Roy will be home for the holidays to greet Layton at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Layton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
