Volleyball Recap: Lordstown Comes Up Short

Lordstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Grand Valley Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Devils of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Lordstown was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Grand Valley's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-14, 25-15.

Mia Giesey paced Lordstown's offense, picking up seven kills. Giesey got some help from Kaycee Was and her seven assists. Giesey also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Cami King, each putting up two.

Lordstown's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Grand Valley, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

Lordstown has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Bristol on the 23rd. As for Grand Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Mathews on the 25th.
