Basketball Recap: Council Grove Falls to Royal Valley in First Game of Season

Council Grove had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were dealt a 71-34 loss at the hands of the Royal Valley Panthers. The Braves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-20.

Council Grove lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mason Samuels, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaise French, who posted nine points.

Council Grove and Royal Valley will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Braves will face off against rival Mission Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Royal Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Nemaha Central on Thursday.
