Recap: Barry Western Wildcats vs. Augusta Southeastern Suns
The Barry Western Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 50-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Augusta Southeastern. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Barry Western in their matchups with Augusta Southeastern: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Weir, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weir has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jedd Abney, who scored eight points.
Barry Western has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Augusta Southeastern, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barry Western on the road again on Thursday and play against Quincy Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Quincy Notre Dame presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Barry Western in Illinois (Quincy Notre Dame is ranked 168th, while Barry Western is ranked 680th). As for Augusta Southeastern, they will head out on the road to face off against Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Seymour is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
