Football Recap: Wayne County Takes a Loss

The Wayne County War Eagles came up short against the Leake Central Gators on Friday and fell 49-38.

Leake Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lacalvontae Williamson, who picked up 212 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 55 yards. Williamson really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 71 yards. Israel Ross was another key back, rushing for 74 yards and two TDs on only seven carries.

Wayne County's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Leake Central, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Wayne County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 24-14 defeat against Northwest Rankin on the 12th. As for Leake Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 49-7 loss against Kosciusko on the 12th.
