Softball Preview: High Point Wildcats vs. Jefferson Township Falcons
High Point is 2-8 against Jefferson Township since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wildcats will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
High Point is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Lenape Valley. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Patriots on Tuesday, sneaking past 7-5. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Grace Meyers made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. Meyers was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meyers wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abby Macfie, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Tori Meyers was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Township made easy work of Vernon on Tuesday and carried off a 13-2 victory.
