Softball Recap: Holy Redeemer Makes It Four in a Row at Home

After only one run in their last game, Holy Redeemer made sure to put some runs up on the board against Western Wayne on Thursday. The Royals never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Royals' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Anne Carter made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Holy Redeemer got a massive performance out of Katie Genovese, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Genovese has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Pecuch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Holy Redeemer pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Western Wayne, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-11 record.

Coming up, Holy Redeemer will face off against Wyoming Area at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Western Wayne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
