Baseball Game Preview: Thousand Oaks Lancers vs. Newbury Park Panthers

For the second straight game, Thousand Oaks will face off against Newbury Park. The Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Thousand Oaks didn't have quite enough to beat Newbury Park and fell 4-3.

For Newbury Park's part, Davis Trudeau tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Trudeau also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Panthers are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Alan Espinal was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Andrew Vega was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Thousand Oaks' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-10. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Newbury Park, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-10.
