Baseball Game Preview: Slocomb Red Tops vs. Northside Methodist Academy Knights

The Slocomb Red Tops will challenge the Northside Methodist Academy Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Slocomb has three straight victories, Northside Methodist Academy has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Slocomb had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Northside Methodist Academy on Thursday. Slocomb never let Northside Methodist Academy get on the board and left with a 9-0 win.

Not much got past Wyatt Reeder, who gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Northside Methodist Academy off the board. Reeder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hayes Hatton was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Luke Goodman was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Slocomb's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Northside Methodist Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
