Preview: Lapel Bulldogs vs. Hamilton Heights Huskies
The Lapel Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Hamilton Heights Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamilton Heights took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lapel, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Lapel was able to grind out a solid victory over Monroe Central, taking the game 46-35. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Lapel has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Heights unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 63-44 bruising from West Lafayette. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Hamilton Heights came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while West Lafayette is ranked 95th).
Despite the loss, Hamilton Heights got a solid performance out of Camryn Runner, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Runner scored a full 43.2% of Hamilton Heights' points, the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadleigh Cherry, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Lapel's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for Hamilton Heights, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2.
