Baseball Recap: Clovis West Triumphs

While Clovis West put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Kingsburg. The Clovis West Golden Eagles came out on top against the Kingsburg Vikings by a score of 5-0. That's two games straight that the Golden Eagles have won by exactly five runs.

Clovis West's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jace Cortez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. The dominant performance gave Cortez a new career-high in hits. Marcus Jackson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Clovis West and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Kingsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Coming up, Clovis West will host Centennial at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Clovis West 1.8, Centennial 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Kingsburg, they will head out on the road to take on Washington Union at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
