Basketball Recap: Athens Skates Past Greenview with Ease

Athens put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to the Greenview Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-21 win. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Athens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carson Moscardelli, who posted ten points and three steals. Moscardelli is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brady Schrock, who had nine points.

Athens smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Athens' victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Greenview, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens will welcome Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Athens is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season. As for Greenview, they will host Illini Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Illini Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Greenview likes a good challenge.
