Basketball Game Preview: Shekinah Christian Flames vs. Columbus School for Girls Unicorns

The Shekinah Christian Flames are taking a road trip to square off against the Columbus School for Girls Unicorns at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Shekinah Christian has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 179 points over their last three contests.

Shekinah Christian's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Tuesday, when they got past Granville Christian Academy's usually-dominant defense. The Flames claimed a resounding 59-20 win over Granville Christian Academy. The Flames pushed the score to 57-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Granville Christian Academy cut but never quite recovered from.

Haylee Beachy produced another solid performance putting up ten points in addition to seven assists and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Schlabach, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 10 points along with five boards and four steals.

Shekinah Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Columbus School for Girls on Tuesday. They came out on top against Franklin Heights by a score of 51-38. That's two games straight that the Unicorns have won by exactly 13 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Columbus School for Girls and bumps their season record up to 3-2. As for Shekinah Christian, their record now sits at 4-1.

Shekinah Christian might still be hurting after the 53-28 defeat they got from Columbus School for Girls when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Flames were down 28-4.
