Softball Recap: Cabrini Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Glen Lake, Cabrini was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Gabriel Richard Irish. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 17-7 victory back in April.

Catherine Schumm made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jodi Browning, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Gondek, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

Cabrini always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Cabrini's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Gabriel Richard, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Looking ahead, Cabrini is taking a road trip to face off against Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gabriel Richard, they will challenge St. Catherine of Siena Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
