Baseball Recap: Redondo Union Has No Trouble Against Palos Verdes

Redondo Union hadn't done well against Palos Verdes recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Sea Hawks blew past the Sea Kings 10-3. Considering the Sea Hawks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Redondo Union got a great performance from Jack Green as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Green a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mikey Ricardo, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Leoff, who scored three runs and stole two bases.

Redondo Union's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Palos Verdes, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Redondo Union will host Culver City at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Palos Verdes, they will welcome Palm Desert at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Aztecs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Sea Kings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
