Softball Game Preview: Ventura Cougars vs. Dos Pueblos Chargers

For the second straight game, Ventura will face off against Dos Pueblos. The Cougars will head out to face off against the Chargers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ventura has four straight wins, Dos Pueblos has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Ventura will bounce into Friday's game after beating Dos Pueblos, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cougars walked away with a 13-9 victory over the Chargers on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their one-run performance the match before.

The team relied heavily on Makayla Halley, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Olivia Marsing was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Ventura lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

Ventura's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dos Pueblos, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.
