Basketball Recap: East River Comes Up Short

East River's tournament run continued when they took on Windermere Prep on Thursday. The East River Falcons were beaten by the Windermere Prep Lakers 70-35. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Lakers are ranked 33rd).

Despite the defeat, East River saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Boooklyn O'Gallagher posted 19 points. That was a full 54.3% of East River's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kali Murphy, who had eight points.

East River has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Windermere Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

East River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-31 win against Windermere on the 3rd. As for Windermere Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-63 loss against Oak Ridge on the 3rd.
