Basketball Recap: Mooresville Comes Up Short

Mooresville lost against Cox Mill back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mooresville Blue Devils fell 53-43 to the Cox Mill Chargers. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Mooresville still got an impressive performance from Lilly Rumrill, who posted 21 points. Riley Parker was another key player, putting up eight points.

Cox Mill had a senior duo take command as Lauren Farrell dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds and Rachel Betz went 6 of 8 en route to 15 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for Betz. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Alexander, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Mooresville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Cox Mill, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-11.

Mooresville will welcome Hickory Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hickory Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season. As for Cox Mill, they will head out on the road to challenge South Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
